TO THE LEGISLATIVE ASSEMBLY OF ONTARIO:
WHEREAS decades of chronic underfunding by successive Conservative and Liberal governments has destabilized the post-secondary education sector, causing institutions to rely more heavily on private student dollars; and
WHEREAS Ontario’s youth are experiencing the highest unemployment level in Canada, coupled with sky-high rent, fewer opportunities, and higher costs at every turn; and
WHEREAS cutting OSAP grants and increasing tuition fees will exacerbate the economic situation of young people and students; and
WHEREAS Ontario’s youth deserve a government that invests in their future; therefore
WE THE UNDERSIGNED petition the Legislative Assembly of Ontario to direct the Minister of Colleges and Universities to immediately reverse the cuts to OSAP grants, stop Doug Ford’s tuition fee hikes, and appropriately fund colleges and universities so Ontario’s young people can receive the high-quality, public education they deserve and need to get ahead
