QUEEN’S PARK — As GO Train riders head into another day of service reductions due to a train derailment, Official Opposition Shadow Minister for Transportation Jennifer French (Oshawa) says it’s unacceptable that Metrolinx has provided zero transparency about the situation to commuters:
“Metrolinx fails to meet the needs of transit riders on a good day,” said MPP French. "It is unacceptable that they’ve refused to be accountable for this extended disruption, and even worse that Premier Ford's government allows them to hide from the public.
“People deserve reliable public transit, and they deserve answers when organizations like Metrolinx fail. Neither Metrolinx nor the Ford government are giving Ontarians any certainty about whether they’ll get to work on time tomorrow.
“If Metrolinx refuses to answer to Ontarians, the government needs to ensure they do. We’re continuing to call for a full inquiry and an overhaul of this opaque, and unreliable organization.”
