You are invited to participate in Provincial Pre-Budget Consultations and present to The Standing Committee on Finance and Economic Affairs. Be heard and share local priorities with the committee. The upcoming budget should reflect community priorities!
Currently and for the next few weeks, the Standing Committee for Finance and Economic Affairs will be hearing from Ontarians and groups about their priorities and asks for the Ontario Budget. These are pre-budget hearings that will allow you to present to the committee and/or make a written submission that will be a part of the permanent record and ultimately, included in the pre-budget report by the committee. Local priorities matter, and over the past few years, many local voices have not been represented at Finance Committee. Please do not hesitate to share this email to encourage more local priorities make it before the committee members. I would be glad if you shared your written submissions with me so that I can keep track of needs across our Durham Region communities.

There are no constraints on written submissions (except for deadlines). Contact the clerk of the committee should you require Zoom accommodation.

If you have been invited or managed to present to the government listening panel, my recommendation is also to get your requests before the official Legislative Finance Committee to ensure there is a public and accountable record of your priorities and requests. The budget listening tour is a side process that is not an equal substitute for pre-budget consultations to committee. ****
