Dear Minister Coteau,
Grandview Children’s Centre is an incredible organization in my riding. As the only Children’s Treatment Centre in the Durham Region, Grandview provides support to thousands of children with special needs every year.
In March 2008, Grandview submitted a preliminary business plan to your Ministry for planned expansion, and that fall, your Ministry gave Grandview a grant to begin the planning process. More than seven years have since passed and Grandview is still waiting for the necessary funding for the project to move forward.
Grandview’s current facility was designed to support 400 children. Today, that facility serves more than 5,600 children per year, with another 2,600 children stuck on waitlists.
Quite simply, Grandview is bursting at the seams.
This is an organization that is held in high regard and high demand. This is not a question of if Grandview is deserving of the requested funding, it is a question of when it will finally be granted.
The longer Grandview is forced to wait, the longer their waitlist grows, too. I ask that you address this problem immediately and grant Grandview the funding they so greatly need and deserve.
