To the Legislative Assembly of Ontario,
WHEREAS good neighbourhood schools are vital to the health and well-being of our communities;
WHEREAS neighbourhood schools also serve as important community hubs;
WHEREAS Oshawa Central Collegiate Institute is the only high-school in Downtown Oshawa and its closure would hurt students and stifle growth;
WHEREAS the Liberal government has already forced the closure of nearly 100 community schools across the province since 2011;
WHEREAS the Liberal government will have further cut education funding by up to $500 million by 2017.
Therefore, we, the undersigned, petition the Legislative Assemble of Ontario to stop the Liberal government’s campaign of school closures, to recognize the importance of schools as community hubs, and invest in good neighbourhood schools.
