Oshawa MPP and NDP Pensions Critic Jennifer French introduced a Private Members’ Motion calling on the Government of Canada to ensure that benefits owed to pensioners be given top priority in the event that a company files for bankruptcy.

That, in the opinion of this House, the Legislative Assembly of Ontario calls on the Government of Canada to protect pensioners by amending the Bankruptcy and Insolvency Act and the Companies’ Creditors Arrangement Act to ensure that benefits owed to pensioners be given top priority in the event that a company files for bankruptcy.
